  Notes	Richard's civil war record states he was age 18; 5'9" tall, complexion dark; eyes black; hair dark; born Morgan Co., Ohio; farmer; enlistment 14 August 1862, Magnolia, IA; mustered in at Camp Dodge, Iowa 1 Dec 1862 and served in Company C, 29th Iowa Infantry. He was wounded severely in the Civil War Battle of Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas 30 April 1864. Then he was carried by his comrades to a corn bin to die, but a southern girl found him and he was taken to Andersonville Prison. He survived as a prisoner until paroled in May 1865, delivered at the mouth of the Red River, mustered out of service 12 May 1865 and discharged at Clinton, Iowa 5 June 1865. He served in Co. C, 29th Iowa Infantry.
