- (Necedah Republican April 19, 1923 Obituary D K Worden
Taps sounded for another member of the rapidly thinning ranks of Grand Army men, on April 10, 1923, when D K Worden died at the home of his daughter, Mrs B Seth Laberee at Boyceville.
Mr Worden was born at Almond, Allegheny county, New York, August 27, 1836 and was 86 years, 7 months and 13 days old at the time of his death. The Worden family moved to Big Springs, Adams county, in the year 1853. On March 2, 1864, he was married to Caroline C Ellis and in August of the same year he enlisted in the 4th Wisconsin Battery and served until the end of the Civil War. Mr Worden, who had long been a resident of this vicinity, was popular with all who knew him and in spite of his advanced years, he still maintained much of his physical prowess.
He is survived by four daughters namely: Mrs Minnie Noyes, Necedah; Mrs Hattie Musson, Tomahawk; Mrs Martha Laberee, Boyceville; and Mrs Pearl Eggman, Downing. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The remains were brought here from Boyceville and on Saturday afternoon, April 14 funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs Noyes, and interment was made in the Bayview cemetery.
Those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr and Mrs A F Eggman, Downing; Miss Grace Eggman, Madison; Mr and Mrs B S Laberee and daughter, Cora, Boyceville; Mr and Mrs T B Musson and son, Charles, Tomahawk; Mrs C T Anderson, Rockford, Ill; Mr and Wm Kruschke, Chicago; Mrs Eva Clough, Kilbourn and R Hale, New Lisbon.)
