In an entry in a manuscript document entitled 'Memorandum of the Parish of West Cholderton in the County of Wilts. & the Diocese of Sarum from the year of our Lord 1847'; the entry in 1894:

Sunday Ap.22. Anniversay of the consecration of the Church (vide p 220) sermon preached by the Revd. Canon Young late headmaster of Sherborne. Collection for Diocesan Societies 6£. 11. 7(1/2).

The Brass Altar cross alluded to in p 223 was presented by E.H. Noyes Esqu. of New York with the following inscription "to the Glory of God & in memory of the Revd. W Noyes Rector of Cholderton 1602 - 1616 this gift is made by his decendant"

The money previously subscribed was devoted to the purchase of an Altar Box.
