Notes |
- Obit: She came with her parents in the fall of 1839 to Clinton County, Michigan and was one of a family of twelve children, all of whom except two brothers and one sister preceded her to the better land. She came to South Haven and married K.W. Noyes. This place was their home until 1872 when they moved to Paw Paw where Mr. Noyes took up the duties of Register of Deeds to which office he had been elected. Here they resided until 1900 when they returned to South Haven which place has since been their home.
The death of her daughter Merta was a sorrow from which she never recovered.
She was in poor health for over four years and spent the last eight months of her life confined to her bed. This was hard for her because she prefered to be doing for others instead of being cared for.
Her chief delight was in her home ministering to the wants of her family and her friends will remember her beautiful flower gardens and the pleasure she took in picking the flowers for them and especially the children.
In November her daughter, Mrs. Harrington, took her to Paw Paw hoping that the change might be of benefit to her, but it was to no avail. Loving care could not bring back health to the worn, tired body and she went to sleep in Jesus December 21, 1916, aged nearly seventy-eight years. Her loss will fall heaviest on her aged husband and her blind son Albert who has been her constant companion and care since his affliction at the age of ten years.
She leaves besides her husband and children, fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, many nephews and neices, and loving friends to mourn her loss.
Mrs. Noyes was a member of the W.R.C., the Fortnightly and Half Century Clubs.
She has always been a kind and loving mother, a faithful wife, a true friend and neighbor, and ever ready to help the needy as long as it was in her power to do so. She has gone to her reward.
The funeral services were held at the home of her son R.G. Noyes Dec. 23, Rev. P.R. Norton officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Lake View Cemetery.
