- (OBIT: Dorothy Evelyn Noyes Pallotta, 89, of of Holiday Drive, died May 8, 2013 at her residence. Born in Portland, she was a daughter of Earle W. and Helen Sabine Noyes.
Dottie graduated from Portland High School, the Class of 1943. Following high school she trained at Hunter College in Bronx, NY.
She joined the Navy as a Wave and was stationed in Washington, DC in the Navy's Code and Communications Department. She was part of the group that deciphered the Japanese code that helped end the war.
After the war, she came back to Maine and married the love of her life Gerald J. Pallotta. She spent her time raising her family, entertaining at her cottage on Brandy Pond, cooking for friends, relatives and her church family and later in life Dot and Gerald were Maine snowbirds in Florida.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Portland.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Gerald J. Pallotta in 1996, her sister Ruth Spaulding and a brother John Noyes.
She is survived by her two daughters, Helen McNelly and her husband Stephen of Lisbon and Ruth Pallotta and her husband Ray Steinmeyer of Sidney, a son Donald Pallotta, three brothers, Howard Noyes of Portland, Earle W. Noyes, Jr. of Cumberland Foreside and Lester Noyes of Falmouth, five grandchildren Paul McNelly, Sarah Abacha, Scott Pallotta, Brian Pallotta and Jessicai Pallotta. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Portland, 360 Canco Road, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth.
