    Notes
    • James and Ann settled briefly at Cape Elizabeth before establishing themselves at Flying Point. They were of North Yarmouth on 1 April 1735, when James was sued in the Inferior Court of Common Pleas for York County by Robert Boyes, trader, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, who sought to recover the sum of £30 10s due on a note given by Anderson at York on 25 February 1731/2. He was chosen a field driver at North Yarmouth 21 March 1738/9.

The Rev. Nicholas Loring recorded in his diary the sad news of the death of four children of James Anderson in the spring of 1737. All were victims of the throat distemper then epidemic in Maine. Thus within a little more than three months James and Ann lost all but their eldest son Jacob.

It was not until 30 January 1747/8 that James Anderson, husbandman, of North Yarmouth, purchased land there. He bought from Jeremiah Powell, gentleman, of North Yarmouth, for £800 Old Tenor, a tract of 200 acres described as follows:
... part of the Dummer Claim lying upon Flying Point beginning at a tree marked IP & IA standing near the Waterside Six Rods to the N.E. of the Second Small Creek above Bucknam's Point (so called) upon Maquoit Bay and from the sd tree N 50 2/3 W across the neck to the water & thence along the shore as the shore runs round the said Flying Point alias Pine Point & said Bucknam's Point including said Points until it come to the Tree first mentioned.

This land became the inheritance of his younger sons James and Joseph, and remained in the hands of descendants until the 20th century.
