- Later in her life, Hannah was blind and living with her daughter, Olive (True)Stockbridge, in the family mansion. One Sunday morning, while everybody was in church, Hannah tipped over a kerosene lantern and burned to death when her clothes caught fire. Someone was either there (a servant?) or the folks got back from church, for the house did not catch fire, and even the table upon which the lantern had stood, survived, and the person who told me this story had the table in his possession. Don't know where this table is today. I see by advertisements in Down East that the mansion is now an antique shop. [submitted by Rada Fuller Nalon, g-g-g-grandaughter of Nelson Howard Cary]
