    • (OBIT: WYMAN, Elmer Davis
Elmer Davis "Jack" Wyman, beloved husband and best friend of Shirley (Bouchard) Wyman died at home on Monday (August 27, 2012) surrounded by his loving wife and family. Jack was born on March 30, 1934 in Caribou, ME to Roy and Jenny (McCarty) Wyman and was one of fourteen children. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Jack is survived by three children, Michael Wyman (Ellen) of Belmont, MA, Laura Bull (Peter) of New Milford, CT and Jacqueline Turner (Brian) of Burlington, CT. His oldest son, Rodney Wyman, predeceased him. He also leaves a special daughter in law, Joan Wallace and her daughter Molly of West Hartford, CT. In addition to his children, Jack "Papa" leaves eight grandchildren, David Wyman, Jordan (Sherri) Bull, Jameson (Samantha) Bull, Kelsey Bull, Allison Bull, Brian Turner and his fiancée Danielle Federico, Emily (John) Ponte and Coleman Turner. he also leaves three great-grandchildren, Carter and Mason Bull and John Brian Ponte. A graduate of Caribou schools, Jack was a talented athlete who lettered in baseball and was named to the all-state basketball team. He was also an Aroostook county ping-pong champion. Jack and Shirley moved to Avon, CT to raise their family where Jack was employed as a foreman at Reliance Sheet Metal and was later an instructor and department head at E.C. Goodwin Technical school. He was also actively involved in the Avon Volunteer Fire Department where he was a Captain, Deputy Chief and a Director. Upon retirement, Jack and Shirley spent their winters in Naples, FL and St. Simon's, Georgia where Jack thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis. Summers found them at their cherished West Hill Pond cottage where the beauty of nature gave them great peace. West Hill was a gift from God, a little piece of heaven where countless family memories were made. Jack was an exceptional man who was true to himself. Honest and caring, a man of integrity. Known as "Happy Jack" by many, he had a twinkle in his eye and you never knew what ridiculous story he was going to come up with next. He truly was loved and respected by all who were lucky enough to have known him. Above all, Jack will be remembered as a devoted husband to his wife Shirley. He treasured his family and we treasured him. We will miss him dearly.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, 25 Darling Drive, Avon, CT 06001 or the Immaculate Conception Church of New Hartford, P.O. Box 285, New Hartford, CT 06057. The family will hold a private burial. Vincent Funeral Home of Canton, CT is caring for the arrangements.)
