- (OBIT: PEMBROKE Ray A. Bond, 75, of Buck Street, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at his home after a lengthy illness under hospice care.
Born in Lincoln on Oct. 22, 1928, he was the son of Noyes and Susie (Brown) Bond.
He was raised in Portsmouth, graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1948, and had been a resident of Pembroke since 1955.
Mr. Bond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been stationed in Iceland during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a stonecutter and sawyer for Swenson's Granite Co.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, fly-tying and spending time with his family.
He was devoted to his grandchildren, Angela M. Bond of Pembroke, Nathan M. Bond of Chichester, and Jessica R. Bond of Franklin; and his great-grandson, Aaron C. Bond of Chichester.
He was predeceased by three siblings, Noyes Bond, Mary Day and Walter Bond Sr.
Family members include his wife of 51 years, Rita A. (Levesque) Bond of Pembroke; a son, Michael A. Bond of Chichester; a daughter, Donna R. Bond of Canterbury; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; his twin brother, Rufus Bond of Hooksett; a sister, Iris Day of Cushing, Maine; nieces and nephews.
Petit Funeral Home of Pembroke handled the arrangements.
