    • (OBIT: DEATH COMES TO ONE OF COUNTY'S AGED PIONEERS
Mrs Louise Overley Passes Away This Morning At Home Of Son

Mrs. Louise Overley, one of the oldest pioneers of Whiteside county and who had been a resident of Sterling-Rock Falls for three score years and ten (70) passed away this morning at 2:45 o'clock at the home of her son, Ross Overley, 201 Dixon avenue, Rock Falls, after a short illness due to the infirmities of age. She was 91 years, 11 months and 10 days of age. --------- Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. E. C. Harris, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, on Thursday morning, Feb. 9, at 10 o'clock at the funeral chapel of Trouth and Son on Second avenue, and at 10:30 a. m. in St. John's church. Interment will be in the family lot in Riverside cemetery. Friends may view the remains at the funeral chapel at any time before Thursday. --------- Mrs. Overley's maiden name was Louise Work. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, (I believe near) where she lived until she was 22 years of age, when she came to Illinois and joined her sisters, who were living at that time in Como. She was married in Como to John Overley of that village, which was then one of the prettiest and most flourishing settlements in northern Illinois. They made their home there until Mr. Overley died 56 years ago. Most of the time since then Mrs. Overley has lived in Sterling, in recent years living with her daughter, Mrs. Clara Manges, 710 Park Place. Four months ago she went to the home of her son in Rock Falls. ------- She is survived by three sons and one daughter, as follows: Ross Overley, of Rock Falls; Elmer Overley, 1001 First avenue, Sterling; Clara, wife of Ted Manges, Sterling, and John Overley, of Los Angeles, Cal. Mrs. Overley was the last survivor of a family of six children, four sisters and one brother preceding her in death. ------ Throughout the eastern part of Whiteside county Mrs. Overley was well known to hundreds of friends who esteemed her highly and who will miss her greatly. She was one of the few pioneers who remained to link the present with the past and to bring into these hurried times something of the serenity and loveliness of other days. The family have sympathy of their many friends in the loss of one who has been so cherished a part of their lives for so long a period of time.)
