Notes |
- Personal name meaning, Nebo has given seed. An officer in the Babylonian army during King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign. His title is given as "captain of the guard," a designation which is uncertain. He led his troops in a siege of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. (2 Kin 25:8-9), burned the city’s buildings, tore down its walls, and carried away the people into Exile. Four years later he returned and deported still more citizens (Jer 52:30).
