- Personal name meaning, hornet. People from Zorah, a tribal town of the tribe of Dan (1 Chr 2:54). Descendants of Salma and Shobal (1 Chr 2:54; 4:2), of the tribe of Judah, who inhabited the city of Zorah. Zorah was a city of Dan (Josh 19:41) about thirteen miles west of Jerusalem on the border with Judah (Josh 15:33). It was the home of Manoah, Samson’s father (Judg 13:2). Rehoboam, king of Judah, strengthened Zorah in case of war (2 Chr 11:5-12). It is modern Sarah.
