- "Paul made the run into the OK Cherokee Strip with his brother Allen in 1893. Another man arrived at the property he wanted at the same time, and he paid him $25 for the site. He had bought a fine racing mare to ride in the opening and was grieved when she had to be shot a few days later because her hooves were coming off from being ridden so hard. After he completed the required shanty and fencing and plowed a plot of ground, he went back to his brother Allen's farm to get his family." (Daughter Grace Pinkerton).
