  	(James Noyes was a Sergeant for the New Hampshire State Police, he headed the S.W.A.T. Team. He was a State Trooper for 17 years. He died in the line of duty at age 40. He was at home with his family when he heard of a stand-off in Gilford, New Hampshire. It involved a despondent man that had lost his wife earlier that year. The suspect barricaded himself in his home. Sgt. Noyes responded with his team in place, in hopes of negotiating with the suspect. When Sgt. Noyes was outside the building, trying to speak to him, the man fired several shots. He was hit, twice. Once in the wrist and the second one hit him under the left arm, bypassing his bullet-proof vest. The suspect then committed suicide. Sgt. Noyes was survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons. His oldest son followed in his footsteps and joined the New Hampshire State Police in December of 2001. His dad knows, looking down from above, beaming with pride.)
