- He succeeded to the Pilgrim Tercentenary membership of his grandmother, Mrs. John Aaron Vanderpoel 20 February 1939.
The family were communicants of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Litchfield.
Mr. Vanderpoel organized the Trumbull-Vanderpoel Electric Manufacturing Company in Bantam, Connecticut, in September 1912 serving as President till his retirement in 1920. His favorite vocation was radio engineering. He was a charter members of the Wireless Institute, which later became the Institute of Radio Engineers. He was also a charter member of the American Relay League of East Hartford, and of the Ameteur Cinema League.
